Welcome to Joomak Banjum

Michelin-Starred Joomak Banjum is a Korean-Chinese fusion executed with French technique and expressed through New York culture. The team is bringing a new and unique experience to Koreatown with an extensive focus on the wine and beverage program.

After a series of successful and sold-out pandemic popups restaurants, former Executive Pastry Chefs, Jiho Kim previously of The Modern, and Kelly Nam formerly of Electric Lemon, paired up with restaurateur, Sarah Kang to open their first permanent space, Joomak Banjum (meaning “tavern” and “Chinese restaurant” in Korean).

 

Our Team

Chef Jiho Kim, former Executive Pastry Chef of two Michelin starred The Modern, has curated a special tasting menu of Chinese-Korean fused cuisine. His mission is to create a bistronomic environment that celebrates and encourages bringing people together.

Chef Kelly Nam is a partner and the Executive Pastry Chef of Joomak Banjum. Nam was awarded MICHELIN Guide NY 2022 Pastry Chef of the Year. She was formerly the Executive Pastry Chef of Electric Lemon and Michelin starred Frenchie in Paris. Chef Kelly has worked side by side with Chef Jiho for years and after working together to create a series of pop-up restaurants, the pair is excited to settle down into their first permanent space that is Joomak Banjum.

Partner and Pastry Chef Sarah Kang. Previously the owner of Konbini, a casual Japanese concept that derived from Sarah’s travels and time spent studying at Le Cordon Bleu Tokyo. Since meeting Chef Jiho Kim and Chef Kelly Nam, at their first pop-up, Sarah has partnered up with the duo in the co-creation of Joomak Banjum.
